The Earthship is a demonstration eco house. It is run as a visitor centre and is open throughout the year for both drop in visitors and booked tours.

It is built from old car tyres, aluminium cans, and other waste materials. The building is designed to maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the year, without needing fossil fuel heating, it is off grid and generates all its' own electricity from renewable sources, it catches all its' own water on the roof, has a water recycling system and treats all its' own sewage in contained planter beds.

The Earthship concept is a way of building autonomous living spaces from waste materials. It originated in New Mexico, USA, and Earthship Fife is the first Earthship in the UK! Visitors can take a fascinating, hour long guided tour of the Earthship or attend a Green Living Experience day long event looking at simple ways in which we can change our lifestyles to be more green. We also run Power to the People micro renewables workshops, examining different micro renewables technologies and how they can be incorporated to your home. Check out our website for more details, or better still come and see for yourself.
