The Living Rainforest is an educational charity. It brings together animals and plants in a live, growing rainforest under glass houses, and uses them to explore the links between rainforests, people and nature, through education, conservation and sustainable living.

In 2006, The Living Rainforest fired up a new state-of-the-art woodchip boiler which runs on waste wood from nearby local forests and farmland. The new ‘biomass heating’ system is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 220 tonnes a year, and provide at least 50% of the visitor attraction’s energy requirements.

We have also now opened the Human Impact Building, which enables visitors to explore people's relationship with the environment and what we can all do as individuals to lessen our negative impact on the planet.

The Living Rainforest is an ideal place for a day out and offers excellent resources for school groups too.
