The Greenhouse is a focal point for sustainable living in the Norwich and Norfolk area. Situated close to the centre of Norwich, it consists of a wonderful vegetarian, fairtrade and organic cafe, a courtyard garden (where food and drinks are served in the summer, a well-stocked shop selling organic/fairtrade food and gift items and a range of meeting rooms upstairs.

The building itself is Grade 2 listed building and has been adapted to be as sustainable as possible optimising its use of energy. There is a large amount of insulation, all using natural materials (wool, blown paper and cork). It utilises solar energy to heat water and to generate electricity using photovoltaic cells and harvests rainwater to use for flushing its loos.

In addition to providing a convivial meeting and shopping environment the Greenhouse also offers a wide range of information on many aspects of sustainable living and has a dedicated team who are willing to advise or direct you to the right place. The Greenhouse also provides a post box service for many local environmental groups and has and extensive website which is well worth a visit.
