Plants For A Future is a resource centre for rare and unusual plants, particularly those which have edible, medicinal or other uses. As such it is a unique centre in the UK and a vital resource for people who want to live sustainably on the land.We have developed a database of over 7000 of these plants, many of which we cultivate at our base "The Field" near Lostwithiel, Cornwall.

The Field is 28 acres of land which has been transformed over the last 12 years from a huge barren, desert-like and eroded barley field into a beautiful, fertile, sheltered young woodland with lots of wildlife. The main focii on the land at present are:

1)Maintaining our collection of plants.
2)Self-sufficiency in at least some of our foods and
medicines.
3)Obtaining planning permission to live on the land

Volunteers are invited to come along and share the wonderful experience of being with nature on the land as well as the work! Accommodation and facilites are quite primitive, so you have to be able to rough it a bit! We are also looking for more like-minded people to come and be involved in the project.
